[Lorna doesn't even know how she could possibly top that. She spends a full day considering dozens of possibilities, but they all seem to fall flat in comparison to the peridot necklace tucked safe beneath the collar of her dress. Though she knows full well that she is stronger than any would-be robber that might cross her path, she cannot help but worry an opportunistic pickpocket might steal it away from her while she's unawares.]
[Which is a shame, really, because she very much wants Anna to know her gift is not only appreciated, but used - and it's that very thought that gives Lorna an idea so perfect it makes her bounce with delight.]
[Two days after the necklace is given to her, Lorna makes her counter-attack. Rather than give Anna anything that can be held in her hands, she gives her something with a little more permanence.]
[As she goes about her day, Anna will see that Lorna is sporting a bit of jewelry for once - a broach, pinned in the center of her collar. Upon closer inspection, she'll see that the broach is not a gem but a flower, encased in resin -]
[The very flower that started this little gift-giving game of theirs in the first place.]
[Oh, Anna notices. She notices, and as soon as she realizes exactly what it is she's noticing, her face is turning pink, because it's so hard for her to believe that anyone would like such a simple gift enough to immortalize it and turn it into such a beautiful little keepsake. And really, if that isn't the straw that breaks the camel's back. Rohan had encouraged Anna to talk to Lorna about the things she's been feeling, and now seems as good a time as ever.
She plans it strategically, waiting for Lorna in the kitchen, where she'll find Anna waiting for her perched on the edge of the countertop with two hot cups of lavender tea with milk and honey waiting on a tray beside her. She's wearing the beautiful lace choker that Lorna made for her, her legs kicking idly while she waits. When Anna sees the object of her affections enter, she doesn't move from her spot, but gives her a big, hopeful smile.]
Good morning...I made you some tea! I was hoping we could have a little chat.
[In Lorna's opinion, there are few better ways to start the day than with a nice cup of tea - except, of course, sharing that nice cup of tea with even nicer company.]
[The moment she sees Anna fulfilling both those conditions at once, she smiles brightly, her wings indulging in a happy little flutter.]
You needn't hope for something that has already been promised.
[Her tone is light, gently teasing. She makes her way over to the other side of the kitchen in just a few short strides, and accepts the tea offered to her with a grateful nod and a quiet 'Thank you.']
[She moves to take a sip from it, but halts the cup half-way to her lips as something catches her eye. Now that she's up close, it's easier to notice the subtleties of Anna's expression.]
[Lowering her cup, Lorna tilts her head to the side and regards the other girl with a curious look.
[Anna's heart does a little flutter of its own, seeing how happy Lorna is to see her. Almost like a feedback loop. She takes up her own teacup and goes in for a sip, hoping it might calm some of her nerves.
She doesn't perhaps realize that her expression is such an open book, and she feels her cheeks color a little at Lorna's question. Anna lowers her cup to rest between her hands in her lap, and nods.]
Well...yes, actually! I was sort of hoping we could talk about...us.
[This conversation has been a long time coming, and yet somehow it feels as though it has come all too soon. Lorna fidgets a bit with her cup, rolling it between her palms as she tries to keep her smile from taking on an anxious edge.]
Ah. So you've sorted them, then? Your thoughts on the matter.
[She tries and fails not to sound as nervous as she feels. In an effort to calm her nerves and wet her suddenly parched throat, she takes a small, tentative sip of her tea.]
[It's lovely, but she can't properly appreciate it when there is so much else for her to focus on at the moment.]
[In Anna's estimation, she's been hemming and hawing about this for weeks too long. Pussyfooting around it. Tiptoeing, in Lorna's case. She's gathered enough good advice, and feels confident enough that the two of them are feeling a similar way—especially after their talk with Dr. McGucket—that she's ready to move forward. She nods.]
Mmmhmm, I have.
[She ducks her head, letting the loose strands of her grass-and-leaf hair fall forward to hide her rapidly flushing cheeks.]
I really like you, Lorna. I think you already knew that, but—ever since the day I kissed you I can't stop thinking about doing it again.
[Hell, she had to keep herself from doing it again that very moment.]
[Well, there goes what little pretense of composure Lorna had. It flies right out the door, and when it does a fierce blush rushes in.]
[She brings her hands to her mouth, her pale skin reddening as she tries as hard as she can to pretend like those words don't embarrass her just as much as they delight her. Or is it the other way around? She's not sure what she's trying to hide, really, or even why. It just seems a little inappropriate to be responding so...immodestly.]
[Oh well. She's already making a fool of herself, fussing like this. She may as well just keep digging herself deeper.]
...I suppose you'll be glad to know we're of the same mind, then.
[She flashes a small, hesitant smile from behind her hands, which she drops belatedly once she realizes Anna cannot see past them.]
I must admit, my own thoughts have run a similar course as of late.
[Anna can't believe that Lorna would ever think herself plain, when she's clearly so lovely when she's blushing like that. It makes Anna smile through her nerves.]
Well...good! I'd feel pretty awkward if you'd decided you want nothing to do with me.
[Feeling bolstered by a sudden rush of adrenaline, Anna slides down from her perch atop the counter and reaches for both of Lorna's hands.]
So I guess what I really want to say, is...well, would you consider being my. My girlfriend?
[That sounds so weird coming out of her mouth, but it also feels right.]

Is there something on your mind?
