[It's a little nerve-wracking, yes; she likes Lorna very much, but talking in such a personal setting like this still makes a nervous feeling crawl on the back of her neck. However, if there's one thing that can get her to push past her own anxiety - or try to, at least - it's the desire to make Anna happy.
So whrn Lorna opens the door, the smile Elsa flashes is a bit reserved, but still bright for the young queen's standards.]
Everything is just fine. It's been a slow day at the cafe, so Anna's closing up by herself. I left early, because... well. I needed to talk to you, without the risk of her overhearing.
[... does she know how ominous that might sound coming from the very loving but still very protective older sibling of your fiancee?? Sadly, no. Oops.]
[Oh god bury her in satin lay her down on a bed of roses sink her in the river at dawn and send her away with the words of a love song because this is it this is how she dies.]
[Lorna lets out a high, nervous laugh and glances to the side, as though searching for someone to bear witness to her impending murder, before looking back to Elsa.]
[Okay, alright, no need to worry. She doesn't even know what Elsa wants yet, it's silly to panic over something that might not even be as serious as it seems to be.]
Oh--oh, alright. Of course. Of course, please, come in. Would you like a cup of tea? I've a pot warming on the burner.
[Elsa may not be all that good with people, even after a year of open gates in Arendelle and a few months here in Ryslig, but she knows anxiety extremely well. So when Lorna lets out that panicked little laugh, a look that mirrors that panic crosses Elsa's face, and she's quick to shake her head, already stuttering out an apology.]
O-Oh, it's nothing bad, I promise! I'm sorry if I worried you. I just... I want to surprise Anna, and I need your help.
[Good job, Elsa! You know how much any version of "I need to talk to you" can punch you straight in the chest. Do you really want to give your friend a heart attack like that???]
[Oh thank goodness. This isn't going to be one of Those talks after all.]
[Lorna places a hand over her heart and sighs with relief, only for her eyes to immediately widen with mortification when she realizes just what this surprise must be for.]
--Oh good lord, her birthday!
[Why didn't she assume that from the beginning? Goodness be, talk about making a fool of yourself.]
[She swipes her hands down her face, taking a moment to bury her embarrassment before returning Elsa's apologetic expression with one of her own.]
[With the crisis averted, Elsa can't help but chuckle at the wave of panic and relief swirling around Lorna. Ohhh if she can only put into words just how much she can sympathize.... she'd had a moment of panic too, when she realized she hadn't done any planning for her sister's birthday, something she'd had to make sure she got right after she screwed up so bad last year....]
It is, yes. I'm sorry I didn't make that clear before! [Geez, Elsa, you know that saying about making assumptions...] If you don't have any plans yet, I could absolutely use your help with setting something up for her here at home.
Oh, Elsa, I that's a wonderful idea - I don't know of what help I'll be, if any, but if you put me to task I'll try my very best.
[She doesn't think planing a birthday party for someone would be especially hard, but since she's never been to one before, she really can't say. Besides, even if she did have any experience at all with such things, would it really help her plan a party for a princess?]
Simple: I need you to take Anna out for the day. A nice date, or just wandering the city... I just need her out of the house until the evening.
[There's a glint of mischief in Elsa's eyes as she explains. It's... a rare thing, one not many people might see. Elsa is so calm amd controlled when it comes to so many aspects of her life, but when it comes to doing things like this for Anna... that side of her she thought had died when she was a child starts to shine through.]
I know Anna wouldn't want anything too big, and I, er... made thar mistake last year. [She looks a bit embarrased as she says this, but tries to shake it off.] So I thought... maybe this year I'll just decorate the house as best as I can, and make a cake from scratch cor her.
Oh, Elsa, that sounds lovely - will you need any help with the baking, beforehand? I've a book of recipes you might try, if you haven't anything in mind already.
[She feels it goes without saying that anything with chocolate as an ingredient comes highly recommended.]
I appreciate the offer, but... I have some ideas on what I want to do. [Even though it's perfectly reasonable to turn down that offer, she has to fight back a bit of guilt.] and I... I think I like doing these sorts of things on my own. Baking, maybe cooking... it's fun, doing things that have always been done fore me for all my life!
[Even if she can't bake as well as Anna, and she isn't very good at cooking... Elsa's happy to just have that opportunity.]
I guess... it helps me feel normal. Like I'm more than just Queen of Arendelle.
